Introduction

This is a Christian blog for those who aren’t afraid to read about unorthodox ideas. The incredible concepts posted here will be eye openers, perhaps even stretch you a bit. I assure you that I love God and follow him faithfully. I needed a place to catalogue some of the disenfranchised thoughts I’ve had. I’ve invited a few friends to comment on them and leave their ideas too. Together we’ve formed a unique dialogue that is open-minded and inspirational.

Sometimes the posts are about quantum physics and cosmology, sometimes about linguistic concepts and Biblical Translations, sometimes church history, sometimes what we could improve here and now.

Unlike other sites I moderate I’m not going to demand that all the posts here be inoffensive. I’m leading it off with a rather controversial review of a popular book. It’s a radical opinion and it will make some people think I’m a nut, but that’s ok. This is not the place to become popular, this is the place to yourself.

Leaps in Logic

It occurred to me this afternoon, that every denomination/religion I've dug deeply into, contains theological pillars which they can't prove 100% biblical. In other words these standards are both, core to proving their religious world-view and dependent on a particular reading of the scriptures that is questionable. Obviously, religions are man-made and therefore flawed, but even so, every Christian Sect contains certain fundamental beliefs which are anchored by bible verses that could be read differently if the reader wasn't predisposed to interpret those verses in that manor.

I've always had some discomfort with the idea of cobbling together disparate scriptures by topic since you could use the technique to make the bible say almost anything you wanted it to. But this is different. This is actual leaps in logic I'm noticing now.

For example, if I were to take the same license with scripture as I believe the Adventists do I could read where Cain's vegetables and fruit offering is turned down by God and decide that God must hate vegetarians.

Its harder to explain, sorry, it just gave me a chuckle when it occurred to me so I thought I'd share.
